Hi i am new here , how does drawing sri chakra beneficial to mankind ?
At the most basic level, benefit to mankind comes from self-improvement. The more connected one is to the Divine the more benefit others will get through the interaction with you. Regular drawing of Sri Chakra is a sadhana in itself and helps one to get connected to the Goddess.
I would recommend you read this Q&A where Guruji explains the benefits of a Meru. The same applies to the two dimensional Sri Chakra.
https://forum.amritananda.org/d/50-the-merus-of-devipuram-a-conversation-with-guruji
Sure , thanks a lot , i will practice it
Different Gurus have different ways of teaching and put emphasis on different things.
Guruji taught two ways of doing it, one is a quicker freehand way and another with the compass/ruler which is much more precise and takes longer to complete.
The freehand method was taught as a way for a person to learn to draw a Sri Cakra and also as a meditation technique.
thanks for your answer , but let me put in this way , on quote from Haran aiyas speech "Who should draw a yantra , tell me , not any tom dick and harry , if you have to draw the sri chakra you MUST have SRI vidya upadesam or atleast into bala mantra and only such people have adhikaram the authority to draw sri yantra "
around 2:55:00 in this video
so i got doubt if general public can attempt to draw sri chakra , because he says if there any other triangles fromed because of wrong drawing the yoginis in sri yantra would curse.
Śrī Matre Namaḥ,
From this post, Guruji's quote
So forget what people say. I asked Divine Mother Herself, in my meditation, this question: “Will you harm someone if they take a Meru home without initiation?” She said, “I will not harm.”
If keeping a Meru at home without initiation will not bring harm then I think drawing Śrī Cakra by an uninitiated person won't bring any harm either.
If drawing additional triangles or intentionally drawing the triangles wrong will bring harm or not is totally a different question. Only advanced practitioners of Śrī Vidyā here can answer.
I have gone through the time stamp you posted. What Haran Aiya garu said could be true that it is mentioned in Yogini Hridaya text that only initiated people can draw Śrī Cakra but then you will find in some other text that you are not supposed to keep a Meru without initiation and you need to follow several rules and regulations to keep a Meru in your house like daily puja and minimum one parayana of Lalitā Sahasranāmam (LS) etc.
Guruji made Śrī Vidyā and Devi accessible to everyone removing the fear around the practices and not following the strict rules that were laid down by other schools and teachers. And there could be several reasons for having strict rules, the obvious one is the enormous power and prosperity Śrī Cakra brings to people which they will abuse to harm others and themselves.
It is always better not to mix teachings from different teachers. It is better to have faith in Guruji and practise, nothing will happen. If you don’t have faith yet as you are not initiated then you can do practices which don’t need initiation like See Goddess fast here or here.
Śrī Gurubhyo Namaḥ
what i thought was drawing a meru is different and bringing an already made meru is different , What guruji clarified was second part and what Haran guru is telling was about the first point , i always think both haran and guruji are same
Yes, I agree it is different and the point is if you go by one authoritative text called Yogini Hridaya in this case for one practice i.e who should only draw Śrī Cakra and not following another authoritative text or the same text which may tell you who should and who should not worship Meru let alone keep one at home, it won't help, unless your Guru says so.
We need to go by the word of a Guru, your Guru, in the case of practitioners from Devipuram it is Guruji Śrī Śrī Amṛtānandanatha Sarasvatī and Guru Amma.
If Haran Aiya garu says uninitiated people should not draw Śrī Cakra but the uninitiated people can keep Meru at home and you accept him as your Guru by all means you should do that but it won't help if you accept that uninitiated people should not draw Śrī Cakra from Haran Aiya garu while Guruji says anyone (initiated or uninitiated) can draw Śrī Cakra being unable to decide who is correct.
You may find this post helpful.
It's also important to note that every Guru in the parampara maintains their own view on many issues and ways of teaching.
To give one example, Haran Aiya requires people who he gives diksha to be vegetarian, while Guruji didn't put that restriction.
The best policy is to follow what one's own Guru teaches, otherwise, if one tries to reconcile the approach of different Gurus things may get confusing.
Adding to all the valid comments above-yes, Guruji and Aiya had different views on many things although belonging to the same lineage. Every guru adds and builds on certain practices that are then passed on to their disciples.
Visualization plays a very important role in our rituals. To be able to visualize effectively, ie, drawing something in the mind's eye can be enhanced greatly by actually physically drawing it over and over. To be able to visualize something as complex as a sri chakra is not easy. This is where the repeated physical actions help.
If the purpose of using the freehand techniques is to effectively meditate and create a visual image, then it is perfectly fine. However, if you are going to use it for regular worship, then it is important that the geometry is perfect.
What is permissible for non initiates is also something that changes with time. Around 30 years back, chanting Lalita Sahasranamam was considered taboo. Today it is common place to see and listen to people initiated or otherwise, chanting the 1000 names of the Goddess regularly.
after drawing srichakra on white papers , what should we do with those roughly drawn sri yantra , i am not sure if we can just drop them or should we store them. Thank you
The views of different Gurus may vary as per their individual experiences of the divinity. There are no contradiction or right or wrong views since these are experiential. The Guru's view may even evolve with time.
Also, the same Guru may give "contradicting" advice to two different disciples or to the same disciple at different points of time. The advice changes as per the disciple's needs at that point in time. Think of it as a doctor prescribing a medicine to two different patients or the same patient at different points in time. The medicine or the dosage will be adjusted by the doctor as per the patients' condition.
Hello Admin , I Noticed that there is some symbol on outer coroner of shri chakra , can we draw it too?
as same as mentioned in this position .
If you are referring to the 4 symbols in the corners of the meru, you can also draw them if you like.
They are:
They are used for Pañcāyatana pūjā as part of Śrī Cakra Pūjā.
