  • Is it necessary to get Rāja Mātaṅgī / Śyāmalā diksha before Lalitā?

Is it advisable to initiate and practice into Raj Matangi/ Shyamala before going to Sri Vidya ? Does Raja Matangi helps to remove affliction of planet sun ? Please guide I want to take Diksha.

    Hello Shashwat.
Shyama is part of the Sri Vidya pantheon.
    Therefore, deeksha would be required.
Generally, one does not start with Shyama when entering Sri Vidya sadhana unless instructed by ones Guru.
Yes, Shyama pacifies the planet sun (surya).

As explained above, Raja Matangi forms an integral part of SriVidya sadhana. The primary deities of this tradition are Maha ganapati, Syama, varahi, Lalita, Bala and Para.

Worship of Shyama is to be undertaken only after the practices prescribed for Maha Ganapati. All of the Sri Vidya mantras require proper initiation for your sadhana to take effect. Shyama is worshipped in the anahata chakra where the sun is located. It follows that Her worship will have a positive effect on the afflictions related to the planet Sun.

If your primary interest is in overcoming certain problems, there are other ways to address that. Initiation and practice of the Sri Vidya mantras is a serious lifelong study.

Please see this post below in which Guruji describes the reasoning behind the step-by-step progress in sadhana described in Paraśurāma Kalpa Sūtras prior to undertaking Lalitā practice.

Śyāmā and Vārāhī upāsana is given in our Mid Course. All of the practices assigned have to be carried out for at least 1 maṇḍala (44 days).

For people interested in a serious Śrī Vidyā practice we advise to go through our two prerequisite courses: Starter Regime and Sacred Vāk, after which they can proceed to our Beginner's Course.

Raja Matangi gives us a heart of love. All desires that are selfish get converted to a more compassionate form. You will not succeed in your approach towards Shodashi without doing Raja Shyamala. There are many reasons why. I recommend one year with each mantra. Unless you are chanting 6 hours a day, 44 days isn't enough. But if your guru says ok then it's ok. But I spent 2 years with Shodashi and decided to do another year of Mahaganapati, discontinuing all other mantras except guru padukam. I cannot emphasize this enough, one year minimum with Mahaganapati and Bala Tripura Sundari.
