Guruji did not specifically recommend performing Nyasa with the mantra japa. As he noted back in 1985, for an internal mantra japa, there are no restrictions, and the only requirement is to chant the Guru Paduka mantra beforehand, ensuring that the Guru's grace is with the disciple.
