Even though I am writing, I am not doing so because I am an expert, or even knowledgeable. But there is a basic question to go with your question. What is "The Yogini?" Because there are at t]least three ancient temples in India which showcase the 64 Yoginis and their Bhairavas.
Some people will say, those are Bhairava temples. Yet, no! They are yogini temples. And the Bhairavas are there as guardians and consorts of the Shakinis.
64 Shakinis, Yoginis, or Bhairavis. Tripura Bhairavi can be said to be one specific yogini, or all the yoginis altogether. Or the transcendental parashakti Herself. Turiyah.
When people see Kali standing upon Siva understandings vary greatly. Yet let's just for a second forget about power, primacy and so on, and instead look at liberation, at transcendence, at turiyah, and at samadhi.
For simplicity Patanjali's definition of samadhi is the unification of knower, known, and object of knowledge. To experience samadhi one cannot simple reside in turiyah because the mind must bend back upon itself for cognition, otherwise there is no life to the experience. I am trying to say that prakriti must exist for samadhi to exist. This then, is like Kali standing upon Siva.
Siva, in fact cannot be known, without Shakti. Because we experience through the prakritis. In similar fashion we cannot achieve liberation without the Yogini.
So also we cannot achieve liberation without Tripura Bhairavi.
There are numerous definitions of "tripura." The word. I do not have a line-up of quotes to prove this next point. Yet try it upon intuition. In the schools which teach about turiya as transcendence above the three states of consciousness, waking, dreaming, sleeping, these schools often teach that turiya is a half state, since it is empty of object except itself.
Or also because it exists overlapping the other states of consciousness.
Or as said of samadhi, three aspects of unity are knower, known and object of knowledge. When all three are one they are Tripura Bhairavi. The transcendence of the three individual elements of samadhi, through their unification.
All Ten Vidyas are Tripura Sundari. All Ten are also Kali, Tara. Because Devi has the two main aspects delineated by the moon's tithis, the black waning half of the moon and the red, waxing half. In transcendence the most powerful aspect of knowedge is that of desire, which is what comes first of all objects.
Hence, half of the Dashmahavidyas are red, and half black. More or less.
I know this was loose and unscholarly. I relied upon the mystical, as I tend to do. Hopefully it lead in some direction which might yield further results with more exploration. Thanks for reading…..
