63) Kāmākṣī
Kāmakṣī is the name of the Goddess in Kancipuram.
Kāñcī is the waist band. The pūram at the waist band is the Maṇipūram. The Devi originates in fire, located in the Maṇipūra cakra and is seen fully bedecked with the finest of jewelry and finest of sarees in the Cintāmaṇi Gṛha. Kāmakṣī, Mīnākṣī, Viśālākṣī, these three deities are known as the akṣītrāya, meaning the three eyes.
The first eye is the Kāmakṣī, this is the left eye. The word Kāma refers to the desire.
Viśālākṣī expands this desire through action.
Mīnākṣī fulfills the desire through knowledge. Mīnākṣī is the third eye of knowledge. She is green in colour representing the grossness.
The knowledge of God extends through all levels from the finest or the subtlest to the grossest. The word Kāmakṣī also means the axis of desire which is the root cause behind the evolution of the Universe.
